Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
From a young age, Dr. Benna felt a strong calling to care for others, shaped in part by growing up as the oldest of four siblings. Her passion for science and medicine, along with their connection to oral health, helped guide her toward dentistry. While assisting in a dental office during college and participating in dental mission trips, she witnessed how meaningful, compassionate care can be for patients in need. Those experiences reinforced her commitment to patient-centered dentistry and lifelong learning.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Benna completed her undergraduate education at the University of Mississippi before attending the University of Utah School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, she developed a strong interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as temporomandibular joint disorders and sleep medicine, completing advanced pathway training in these areas. She has continued expanding her clinical expertise through implant education, surgical coursework, treatment planning, occlusion training, and oral sedation studies. She is currently pursuing her fellowship through the Academy of General Dentistry as part of her ongoing commitment to advanced clinical excellence.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Benna loves reading, staying active, and spending time outdoors with her two black labs, Janey and Mackie. She and her husband enjoy cooking Sunday night dinners together and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys skiing in Lake Tahoe, traveling, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
